United beat Borough 6-3!
Oxford United got their season up and running in style at the Kassam Stadium with a 6-3 demolition job on Eastbourne Borough in the Blue Square Premier.
After two games without a point, or even a goal, the floodgates opened.
James Constable and Levi Reid put the U's two up in the first seven minutes but poor defending allowed Eastbourne back to 2-2 with Patrick Harding and Allan Tait netting.
A comical own goal from Marc Pullen restored Oxford's lead, but Paul Armstrong made it 3-3 midway through the second half.
However, the U's finished strongly, with substitute Eddie Hutchinson, Constable - with his second goal - and Barry Quinn completing what in the end was a resounding win. After some awful defending.

A win - the most important aspect of that result. The goalscorers will take some good confidence from that result, particularly Reid and constable. Defending to be fair was way below what it has to be for promotion...Foster looks like another player and we need Clarke back as soon as poss. Guy back soon we hope and if we can avoid defeat at Wrexham we can start to build the season from here!!! Come On you yellows!!!

After the previous abysmal performances at least this was a win, but against better opposition it would in all liklehood have been another defeat, the central defence has gone to pot with no Billy to "tell them what to do and where to play" i have often been criticised for saying they play so deep so they can hear his instructions, well if proof was ever needed we have it now! However, 3 points it is and much needed, we now have to up our game at Wrexham, never a happy hunting ground, and get into a higher gear and kick on, the season starts here, lets get a move on. Stop giving soft goals and start scoring like today, not pretty but a win.

Comical defending from both teams, fortunately we took full advantage of theirs while somehow we managed to keep it down to a mere three goals against!!
If your man Guy had been playing i'm certain he'd have got six goals himself, no joking at all.

I don't know if I can respond to your last sentense, we are rivals after all, but it's gratefully accepted. Anyway, who cares what me, and even emu thinks, if you're good enough ,you'll go up. You should never have gone down in the first place, the football league have made a huge mistake with automatic promotion/relegation from the Blue Square. OK the Blue Square is stronger for having the likes of Oxford, Wrexham and Cambridge in the league, but the football league is weaker as a result. Look at Boston and Scarborough, they just wern't geared up for league football and it's finished them off and Halifax were finished off because they were geared up for league football but just couldn't get back into the league. The Football league have alot to answer for. Too late to change things now though, the gates been opened and the horse has bolted.

Very slight advantage emu, anyway if you're 6.2 and 18 stone, chances are, you're a porker and you need to lay off the big macks. We shouldn't really be trading insults as we are both Town fans.
